Christina Vitto is currently an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University.  She received her Medical Doctorate from Virginia Commonwealth University and then completed a combined residency in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University.  She currently serves as the residency program director of the combined Emergency Medicine-Internal Medicine residency program at VCU.  She is also the program director of the accelerated medical school graduation pathway at VCU. She serves as a Project HEART faculty lead within the SOM and is preceptor for medical students in the Practice of Clinical Medicine course.  She serves as a physician advisor in the Department of Care Coordination and Utilization Management at VCU.  She is also the Chair of the VCU Emergency Medicine Faculty Search Committee.   Her interests include education and social determinants of health.  She is the physician lead for the housing insecurity committee within the Department of Emergency Medicine where she is working with a multi-disciplinary team comprised of medical outreach workers, social workers, nursing and community leaders in the Richmond area working to address the socio-economic needs of our patient population.
